EMD SW1500

GM's Electro Motive Division introduced the SW1500 in 1966. The locomotive sported a 645E twelve cylinder prime mover producing 1500 HP. The SW1500 is easily distinguishable from the earlier SW1000 by the dual stacks. The carbody design is one that EMD has utilized since 1935. This locomotive remains in use today and is a perfect locomotive for for use during the C&NW's Transition and Modern Era.

Our SW 1500 models were originally created by Mark Toland. The Original cabview was also created by Mark Toland. The cabview used by all C&NW SW1500's has been modified by Rick Foss. Physics and lighting have been modified by Bill Prieger. Paint has been applied by Bob Artim and Rick Foss.

In addition to the C&NW units several of the major industries on the C&NW utilize these locomotives for their own switching needs. Industries such as Prieger Coal Company, Element Forest Products, Foss Steel Works, Vopak and Burkes Farms have a fleet of switchers dedicated to their needs. This fleet is maintained by the C&NW under agreement with the industries and in return the C&NW will occasionally press these units into service if extra horse power is required to move loads or empties from the industry to a marshalling yard so don't be surprised to see one or more of these beauties out on the mainline.

SD24

GM's Electro Motive Division introduced the SD24 in 1958. The locomotive sported a 567D3 sixteen cylinder prime mover producing 2400 HP. The SD24 resembles lengthened GP7, GP9, GP18 line of locomotives riding on C-C (six wheel) trucks. The SD24 is distinguishable by a rounded bulge at the far end of the long hood near the top. This locomotive remains in use today and is a perfect locomotive for for use during the C&NW's Transition and Modern Era.

Our SD24 models were originally created by 3D Trains. Physics and lighting have been modified by Roberts Rail Services and Bill Prieger. Paint has been applied by Bob Artim and Rick Foss.
